Proceed as follows to perform an upgrade:
1. Run the Image Loader program (ImageLoader.exe).
2. Follow the procedure in section Communications to configure the connections to the HSM.
3. Specify the pathname of a valid script file, following the procedure in section Payload.
4. Click the Upgrade button.
5. Perform any instructions displayed in the Status window
6. Wait for upgrade to complete. When the upgrade has completed the contents of the Status window can be saved or cleared (see section Status).
7. Close the Image Loader application.
8. Re-establish a Console connection to the HSM, either using the PC already connected or another dumb console.
9. Reset the HSM by pressing the RESET button for at least two seconds. The Console will display a booting-up message, followed by a message saying that new software was detected.
10. You are then invited to perform a license upgrade. Enter "Y" in answer to the following question:
Do you wish to perform the license upgrade now? [Y/N]:
11. In answer to the following prompt insert the license upgrade Smartcard supplied with the upgrade software:
Insert card and press ENTER:
12. Depending on the level of software used to create the card you may need to enter a PIN when prompted.
13. The next piece of text presented on the screen shows how many upgrades of each type are left on the card. Enter "Y" in answer to the following question:
Do you wish to update this unit with any of the above upgrades? [Y/N]:
14. You are then asked individually which type of upgrade you want:
Upgrade SOFTWARE COMMAND SET? [Y/N]:
Upgrade VERSION? [Y/N]:
Upgrade COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL? [Y/N]:
15. Answer "Y" to the items you upgraded at step 4 and "N" to any others. The following message is displayed:
Upgrade completed. The unit must be brought ONLINE.
16. Reset the Key Locks to the Online position.
17. Reset the HSM by pressing the RESET button for at least two seconds. The Console will display a booting-up message, followed by the Online> prompt.
18. Type the VR command to confirm that you have the correct software version installed.
